Trafford Grand Prix Meeting 29 June 2010.

Two athletes attended the above meeting on Tuesday evening for some midweek racing.

Gemma Connelly  finished 10th in the 1500m with 4.56.09 and Matty Shirling was 1st in the 800m with 2.02.39 setting a new U15s Club record.
Well done to both.
 
ESAA Selections:

The following seven athletes have been selected to represent their counties in the ESAA Championships at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham, next month:

Greater Manchester - :  Matthew Crehan. Heather Drillingcourt.

Merseyside:-  John Ashcroft, Michael Causer, Matthew Stirling, Kathryn Sumner and Patricia Spark.

NYAL SportCity 20 June

23 young athletes turned up at the fantastic venue of Sportcity for the 3rd young athletes league.  
Due to the lack of athletes we were not able to fill all events but those who did turn up achieve between them 15 new pbs and finished 3rd team overall
Thanks to all athletes and officials who spent the day in the sun and lets try for a better turn out on the 18th July at Wavertree.

Results  Team Result: Bolton 478; SouthportWaterloo 459; St Helens-Sutton 344.

Trafford Grand Prix Meeting 15 June 2010.

Another successful evening at Trafford saw nine athletes attending, with 8 pbs, John Ashcroft (returning from elbow injury!!) 800m in 2.01.31, Mathew Crehan 1500m in 3.56.96 PB, Thaddeus Anim Somuah, Steve Clague 800m in 2.07.49 PB, Dave Griffiths 800m in
2.11.50 pb and Javelin in 39.47 pb, Matty Shirling 1500m in 4.14.0 pb and now fourth on the UK rankings, Jamie Webb 1500m in 4.32.67 pb and Jamie White 300m in 9.44.13 PB and Nathan Brown 800m in 2.09.96 pb. Well done to all and full results can be found at: Results

Record Breaking Weekend:

Taylor Caton-Hand broke the club's U15 discus record with 27.55 at Bebington. Matthew Crehan finished third in the Northern U20 Championship at SportCity. Thaddeus Anim-Somuah reached the final of the senior 100m (11.19) and 200m (22.72) with a 22.3 in his heat. Heather Drillingcourt won the Greater Manchester Schools 100m title and Bethany Baxter reached the 200 final, finishing fifth in 28.2 having recorded 28.0 in her heat. On Thursday Dave Forrester finished two places shy of a place in the NCAA Championship 1500m final at Eugene, Oregon in a time of 3.47.3. The previous night Celia Schroeder was third over 60 female at the Birkenhead Park 5 miles race. Dorothy Fairhurst also ran finishing in 48.47. In the Cheshire Schools' event Shelby Jack finished fourth in her heat in 13.9.

Merseyside Schools Championships at Bebington 12 June:

The Merseyside Schools competition was held at Bebington and there were some excellent performances, 22 athletes attended from the Club with 6 first places, 9 second places and 4 3rd places.
Selection for the Merseyside team to attend the English Schools on July 9th was made on the 13th and several athletes have been selected,

Lake District Training Weekend : 24 to 26 September

St Helens Sutton AC Inaugural Training Weekend for U17s and above.  A chance to get some great early winter training done, in some fantastic countryside.
Borrowdale YHA  Full Board (Packed lunch)  Licensed restaurant  Organised training sessions. Total cost for full board approx £65 (£10 deposit payable), other options available.  Places are limited so book early!!  See Adrian for further details

West Cheshire 12;  St Helens-Sutton 10; LPS 6.5; Leigh Harriers 6; Trafford 4.5; Liverpool 2.

 

 

Trafford Grand Prix Meeting 1 June 2010.
With great weather conditions Trafford open meeting again resulted in some outstanding performances:  five pbs and a season's best from our eight athletes who competed.
Matty Shirling U15 boys 800m came second in a great race running 2.05.01 beating his pb by nearly two seconds. 
Jamie White slashed some 11 secs off his 1500m and is now looking forward to a progressive season.
John Ashcroft yet again set a pb in his 1500m in the competitive BMC race doing 3.58.02  Nathan Brown won his 1500m race in a new pb of 4.25.31
Ste Clague set a seasons best for 800m achieving 2.07.98. Jamie Webb ran another consistent 800m finishing in 2.07.45still feeling tired after the Northern at the weekend.
In the seniors, Gemma Connolly slashed some 37 sec off her pb in the 3000m achieving a club record time of 10.01.59 and Ian Costello paid the price for
a 64 first lap (not bad for an oldie!!) in his 1500m finishing in a respectable 4.34.87

All junior athletes are working towards the Merseyside Schools Champs on the 12th June and John is preparing for the Northern U20 Champs on the same day. 
We still require all Secondary School athletes to let Adrian know by the end of the week their availability for the Merseyside Schools if you not already done so. Your school WILL NOT ENTER YOU !!!
